How to Choose the Right Whey Protein

Walk into any supplement store and you'll see dozens of whey protein tubs promising different things — but most people only need to understand three things to choose well: type, protein-per-serving, and third-party testing.
Whey concentrate is the most common and affordable option, typically 70-80% protein by weight with a little more fat and carbs. Whey isolate is more filtered, usually 90%+ protein, and works well if you're lactose-sensitive or want a leaner macro profile. Whey hydrolysate is pre-digested for faster absorption, mainly useful post-workout, and usually costs more.
Look at the protein-per-serving on the label, not just the marketing claim on the front. A genuine 24-25g of protein per ~30g scoop is a good benchmark — anything noticeably lower for a similar serving size usually means more filler.
Always buy from an authorised dealer. Grey-market and duplicate stock is a real problem in the supplement industry, and it's the single biggest risk to both safety and results. Every tub we sell at Crown Holder is sourced directly from authorised distributors.
Finally, pick a flavour and mixability you'll actually enjoy — the best protein is the one you'll consistently take. If you're unsure, our team in-store is always happy to help you compare options for your specific goal.
